We do recommend to bring one when possible. Passports are NOT required to enter or exit Mexico by land, however you must bring a valid State ID and Birth Certificate with an Official State Seal. Photo State ID such as driver’s License Birth Certificate with Official State Seal (not a photocopy of Birth Certificate, must be the original).

Our Complications Policy will provide you with a calm feeling that we will cover all associated costs involved in any complication that might occur during your stay at our surgical center. If for any reason you must receive additional surgeries, you can be sure that you will not receive a bill or any additional charges. During your operation we will address ANY health concern that we encounter and use all efforts and resources at our disposal to resolve the issue during your operation. We Cover All Surgical Costs in Mexico We Cover Hospital and Hotel Stay Airline & Hotel Rebooking Costs In addition our complication policy covers situations in which you pay for surgery but when the procedure is unable to be performed due to health concerns or previous surgical conditions. If during your operation and we are able to perform a successful bariatric procedure then you will be reimbursed the full cost of surgery, provided with ground transportation to and from the airport, and we pay your hotel costs until your able to return home. We cannot control healthcare costs and emergency procedures after you have returned home if you are able to return to us for surgery. Emergency room visits, primary care follow ups, and operations performed in the United States are not covered by this policy.

To travel to Mexico, remember to always purchase Travel Interruption Insurance on your flights. This Insurance provides you with the benefit of any changes that may occur due to surgery, climate etc. Medical travel can have unexpected delays that could cost you thousands of dollars in airline tickets, hotels, and rental cars. If your recovery time takes an additional day in the hospital, then imagine how much it would cost to book last minute? Travel from Mexico to the US can take a couple hours to get you across from costumes from 3 to 4 hours. This is why we recommend you have your travels insurance. In case you are late to the airport due to our mistake or due to medical reasons we will cover for any flight rescheduling arrangements. We will also provide you with hotel room at Holiday inn Express or Maria Vista Hotel.

Dr. García will review your medical information and will let you know if he will require our one-week pre op diet from you to help you get mentally prepared for surgery and to shrink your problems.

All patients must bring an approved method of payment to be paid upon the day of surgery. You can pay the day of surgery via Cash or a Cashier’s Check or Credit or Debit (Visa or Master Card) even electronic Transfers (Must be done 15 days prior to surgery). Cashier’s Check made payable to Dr. Felipe García Hurtado. *NO PERSONAL CHECKS ACCEPTED.

During your stay for bariatric surgery with Dr. García and Obesity Surgery Clinic we will require you to spend 2 nights at the Surgical Center after surgery, once released 2 nights after surgery at the Holiday Inn Express in Ensenada Mexico and return to San Diego that following day to catch your return flight(s) home.

Lab work will be done on arrival Electrocardiogram (ECG) – Depending on age and upon request by the surgeon*.
